Antawn's First All-Star Summer Basketball Camp, which was sponsored by Bojangles', was a huge success! There were a total of about 80 campers present for camp each day, held on July 10-12 in Charlotte, NC at Antawn's alma mater - Providence High School. Each camper started out the day by shooting around with Antawn and then participating in drills (shooting, team offense, team defense, individual defense, ball handling and 1-on-1 offensive) executed by Providence High Men's Basketball Coach Myron Lowery and his staff of coaches and volunteers. After completing the drills, campers scrimmaged until the afternoon. Then campers participated in shooting contests with Antawn for prizes, listened to guest speakers and got a recap of their day. Antawn spoke on Monday; Kris Jenkins of the Carolina Panthers spoke on Tuesday; and Raymond Felton of the Charlotte Bobcats spoke on Wednesday.

"The most important thing for me was to have my face there with those kids at the camp from start to finish," said Antawn. "I wanted to let them know that I'm not that untouchable like most people think I am. When I’ve appeared at some other players’ camps, those guys may only be at their camp for 20-30 minutes and that’s all the kids see of them. I really wanted to be hands on and really give them a great experience. They got to take jumpers with me before camp started each morning and I was out there acting like I was Coach (Dean) Smith coaching and getting on the referees every once in a while. One of the most important things that I tried to stress to the kids was to have fun. When they saw a 6’9, thirty year old guy jumping up and having fun with them, it really trickled down to everyone," said Antawn.

Campers received an official camp t-shirt, 5x7 picture with Antawn, official camp medal, individual instruction, personal evaluation, snacks and drinks provided by Costco, Gatorade, gift bags with t-shirts, head and wristbands from Adidas and lunches each day provided by Bojangles'.

“The kids in the camp were very talented," Antawn said. "I was telling one that when I was their age and at camp there were maybe one or two players who were very good. We’ve got numerous 8 and 9 year olds that are almost quicker than Allen Iverson and have so much energy! It's just fun to see them using their talent and tools in a positive way and those are more of the things we need to see more of and also guys in my position doing the same thing.”
