ANTAWN'S 2ND ANUAL ALL-STAR BASKETBALL CAMP A HUGE SUCCESS!
Antawn's Second Annual All-Star Summer Basketball Camp, which was presented by Bojangles', was held on July 9-11 in Charlotte, NC at Antawn's alma mater - Providence High School. The camp was for boys aged 8-18. Read about Antawn's 2006 All-Star Basketball Camp.
Camp was held each day from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm in the Providence High School gym. Campers started each day by shooting around with Antawn and then participated in drills (shooting, team offense, team defense, individual defense, ball handling and 1-on-1 offensive) executed by Providence High Men's Basketball Coach Myron Lowery and his staff of coaches and volunteers. After completing the drills, campers played in scrimmage games until the afternoon. (Lunch was provided by Bojangles') Then campers participated in shooting contests with Antawn for prizes, listened to guest speakers (Marvin Williams, Marcus Ginyard and Tyler Hansbrough) and got a recap of their day. Marvin Williams (of the Atlanta Hawks) was Monday's special guest. Current UNC basketball players Tyler Hansbrough and Marcus Ginyard were the guest speakers for day two.
One of the most special camp experiences occurred on the second day when Sports Illustrated showed up to do a photo shoot with Antawn for Rockport Shoes.
Campers were able to view the shoot and see what goes on behind the scenes in making a magazine advertisement. Some campers were even included in the shoot! The Rockport advertisement will be featured in the September 24th edition of Sports Illustrated! Special thanks to Rockport for making a $1,000 donation to Antawn's All-Star Camp to help provide scholarships for some of the campers.
